Madonna sets TV Records in U.S.
In class on Tuesday I mentioned that I heard on the radio that more people tuned into the half time than the superbowl. I mentioned the numbers were 11 million and 14 million, but I must have missed the first part of those because the superbowl received 111 million-ish views and the half time had 114 million tuned in. Here is the article that talks about Madonna outshining the superbowl.

"It's Halftime in America"
This intense Clint Eastwood Super Bowl commerical for Chrysler has people talking about its political pun. What are your views on it?

You Sunk My BattleShip...And Everyone's Faith in the Film Industry
Oh and let's not forget that Liam Neeson, Josh Pence and Rihanna are there as well.
What is happening in Hollywood that we have sunk (no pun intended) to levels like this? The coming release of this film was nothing new, but this movie may just be an example of the movie industry taking something too far.
They were likely hoping to create another franchise out of this following the success that such movies like Transformers has had. Do you think the audience will bite, or is this one already a dead man walking?

Avengers Reveals New Trailer During the Super Bowl
During the Super Bowl, Marvel released a new trailer for the upcoming Avengers movie. What does everyone think about how the movie is being marketed? The marketing so far has been more style over substance, primarily showing off a glamour shot or two of each Avenger in action. But very little has been shown of the film's story. Aside from a brief shot of Loki and ships that are never clearly shown, very little is known about what the plot is and what conflict brings them together. Perhaps Marvel thinks that the characters alone are enough to sell the film as opposed to the plot. Does this concern anyone for the quality of the story? Is this marketing troubling, or instead is it refreshing to not have an entire film's story spoiled in the trailer?

M.I.A's Middle Finger Malfunction
Wardrobe malfunctions are so 2004.
In case you missed it, M.I.A. flipped millions of viewers the bird during this year's halftime show.
According to this article from EW, NBC Sports issued an apology saying, "We apologize for the inappropriate gesture that aired during halftime. It was a spontaneous gesture that our delay system caught late."

The Most Annoying Promotional Tie-In Of All Time?
Unless you are a dog and Star Wars lover, this may just be the most annoying promotional tie-in for a movie ever.
Going off of last year's successful advertising campaign, Volkswagon will once again be launching a Star Wars-themed Super Bowl ad. With the release of Episode I just around the corner, there is likely some association between the two this time around.
If there isn't, a potentially obnoxious ad like this may turn people off from seeing the re-release of the film, despite the whole 3D gimmick.
