Despite the fact that nearly everything points to the contrary, Executive Producer Ari Arand claims that The Amazing Spiderman isn't a complete reboot of the series and that it "won't erase what came before, but will try to weave a narrative that could take place within the framework of the earlier films" This article points out that this can only hurt the film, as everyone pretty much already knows what is going to happen. It points out possible inconsistencies and claims that a Batman Begins style reboot would probably be better, as there is more room for creativity as far as the storyline is concerned.
