Bridesmaids Sequel in the Works?

With the huge success of the summer comedy, earning $288 million worldwide, it's no surprise that rumors of a sequel to Bridesmaids have already started to circulate around the web. Now we've all seen this before. A film with a quirky and authentic concept does exceptionally well at the box office and studios attempt to capitalize on it by churning out a second film in hopes of making an even bigger profit. However, as history proves, sequels frequently fall short and lack that special element that made the original work.

Speaking as one of the many people who absolutely loved the film, I'm a little apprehensive about the idea of a sequel for a few reasons. Some would say it's a bit of deja vu. The Hangover, which Bridesmaids has often compared to, made this mistake when The Hangover Part II grossed only half of what the first film earned and also received poor reviews. While some claim a sequel is in the works, Kristen Wiig has gone on record that she will not be a part of it, if given the green light. Below is a link to the full article.
