'Avengers' Uses Captain America As Point-Of-View Character, Says Joss Whedon

I was wondering who the filmmakers were going to focus the narrative on since the cast contains some pretty controlling actors and the choice of Chris Evans is interesting to me but not very surprising.

Besides Captain America being viewed by comic fans as the 'leader' or founder of the Avengers, it seems like the "politically logical" thing, in an international sense anyway, to strategically place the American leader symbol in the script in a dominant position so that the international perception of the U.S. equates to a sense of strength, balance, fairness, etc.

The international market is huge for a film like this and I think that by not placing Captain America at the forefront of the narrative, our country could potentially be viewed as passive or weak. Afterall, the Captain America image is essentially our country's representative.
